I have 10 fish in a 55 gallon aquarium, some molly's, some tetras. I noticed one of my molly's a few days ago started swimming around like he was paralyzed, his bottom half would not move and he'd kind of just float around. Now he's really hurting, he ate too when I fed them this morning. He's just laying under a plant, and when I try and move him he kind of just floats around trying to swim with his front fins. It really does look like he's paralyzed, could the force of water coming out of the filters cause harm? Or can this happen for other reasons?? Can I save him, he's my favorite.

I did have a fish with ick, but I used that wafer stuff and it cured him. It really doesn't look like he does, but it's hard to tell on him because he's orange and white spotted. I will try the stuff again. I used it for three days straight and did 2/3 water changes every time. Maybe it didn't get it all out.

Leave him alone...He'll either survive or not. He's developed a "leak" in his swim bladder. This is the sac that the fish can regulate his weight to float or not. Something has happened to it....it may clear itself or not....there's nothing you can do about it, but don't mess with it, you'll just make it get really tired.

How do you know that your fish is a he? Is it plump, if it is then it's a female. Either ways, please don't suffer, but the news is that it is close to death and if you want to keep it alive, you get medication and follow the things below. I'd rather say for you to let the poor fish die in peace.
Just to tell you, I think that you better take that fish out of the tank and into another tank or a bowl or else once it dies, you'll have to clean the whole tank and take the fish all out! I know that you might feel that the fish will get lonely because it's getting seperated from it's friends, but I think that it's best that the friends don't see it die.
Here's a thing to consider for the other fish:
Make sure you have the highest water quality possible for all types of fish. This would mean 0 ppm of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates; all of which you can test using a test kit or by having your local pet store test them for you. Don't add any more fish until you've had your water tested. If any of these levels are too high, you should do an immediate 25% water change. If your levels of ammonia are high, three 25% water changes over the course of a week may help. In the future, you should perform a 25% water change every two weeks. This will help to control levels of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. The water changes will reduce any problems with water quality and help the fish combat parasites plus reduce any harmful bacteria.Excess waste caused by overstocking, like excess food, gives off ammonia and nitrites. Proper filtration and aeration are other things you may want to consider. Make sure the filter is working properly and that the water is well oxygenated.

He might've eaten too much. Goldfish eat and eat, they don't even know when they're full
Maybe he's sick. Does he have Ick?
I had a fish who floated around a lot. He died the next day.

He probably has a swim bladder problem or a bacterial infection. Melafix is a good medication to try. Put him in a quarantine tank and treat him. He may die anyway, but good luck.

your fish has a disease, you can by medicine for it at the store, but it is still gonna die, so it would be best too get rid of it, because the disease is very contaigeous too other fish!
(someone i know is a fish expert, and they say that the disease is called "shimmy, or consumption")
(and no the filter water can't hurt it)
Good luck with it!
sorry about the fish!
