You should take folic Acid at least 3 months before you want to get pregnant. I take the Vitamin World Band. I really like it!

you need to take 400 micrograms of folic acid. Each different brand will be exactly the same in effect- so you may as go for the cheapest. More expensive doesn't equal better.
I would be a little bit wary of supplements containing other things. I took Sanatogen Pronatal, but the iron in it interfered with some other pills I was on. Only take them if you're sure a) you need them (you'll get all you really need from a balanced diet) and b)you're not on aything else

Yes. The first six weeks of pregnancy are a crucial time when it comes to folic acid preventing spina bifida. Good luck.

Just take a prenatal vitamin. You'll get the folic acid you need along with other beneficial vitamins.
I prefer Nature Made Multi Prental - it actually does not make me nauseous.

A doctor usually gives a prenatal prescription when you are pregnant. If not you can ask for one and that will have plenty of folic acid.

My doctor prescribed (Folic Acid 1 MG tablet WAT) it does not have another name.. I take it everyday... I was suppose to take the prenatal pills also but those pills make me sick to my stomach.
I was told to take Flinstones with Calcuim instead...
