First of all I have disgusted taste, for the way the Republican party handle the problem at hand. First Foley resigns and indicates that he is Gay, an Alcoholic, and was molested as a child. He and both the GOP, should be ashamed of their actions. My opinion is not partisan, but on moral principals.
Secondly the blamed the Pages; as if its their fault a 54 year old man; who happens to be a Congressman, sends illegal sexual content to minors. Rather than being a political party of morals and integrity; they went after the wrong issues and people. Yes the buck is being passed and not addressed.
Lastly; the GOP Representatives have lied about knowing about Foley's actions; regarding time frame of acknowledgment. They even blamed the Democrats for leaking the story; when it was one of their own. When that didn't help; they turned their backs on the Gay Pages, Staff members, and begin outing those in the Senate and House of Congress. It's ridiculous as to their lack of responsibility to this nation and the people who elected them into office. Shame on you all!

I think that defense is sleazy as well but it is Foley's personal refusal to accept responsibility not a general Republican (or Democrat) thing. If only I had a nickel for every time someone on here generalized individual events...
Unfortunately, our society and political environment are all about passing blame and denying culpability for anything we do. When I taught, I heard countless excuses and blame passing. At my work, I hear similar excuses. Sometimes, I swear I'm the only person left that will directly tell their boss "I blew it."

I don't care if he was molested by a billy goat. It gives him no right to approach little boys. He is a sicko.
I am sure there are democrats out there who molest little boys as well.
I just heard the priest admit to being naked in a sauna with Foley and he can't remember if anything happened. I still say this is no excuse. Foley is a menace to society and needs to be punished.

You have to understand these neoconservative Republicans: if something goes terribly wrong, they have to make up an excuse, or blame the liberal Democrats for their own mistakes.
Foley will use a Catholic priest as an excuse for his unacceptable behaviour - what's even worse is that the current congressional leadership (Republican) knew about this six years back!!!!
And they went after Clinton just for licking one of his White House interns. What a bunch of bullcrap!

Look, the guy resigned under pressure by his peers who never should have put a queer in authority in the first place.
I dare you to show me one Liberal who has ever shown genuine repentance not only with words but in deed as well.
Why is it always a Conservative who has to do the right thing! Is it just because they are the only ones who recognize right from wrong?

It sure looks that way. He's a gay, alcoholic, formerly sexually abused Republican. He hit the tri-fecta!!!! Talk about searching for excuses....
Plus his Neo-Con buddies covered for him and said that it was the Democrats for not getting rid of the antiquated page system. They sure know the way to blame everyone except themselves.

No, it is another example of homosexual pedophile buck-passing, although to be truthful, molestation as a youth probably does screw up a person, the person still makes choices.

I doubt it has anything to do with being republican. Whether or not it is true, this man has been publicly humiliated and is probably trying to get some of the media pressure off of him for his sick actions.

Yes, trying to blame someone else for doing something that you know is wrong denies personal responsibility.
