How do you get rid of the ashy smell from your fireplace, when it is not in use?

put some drier sheets and cut up some apples and place in there, they will absorb the odors!

Be sure to close the damper to avoid a down draft from chimmney. Sweep out ashes. Spray with Fabreze.

Clean firebox good, close damper, then add a box of baking soda. hide it behind wood etc.
