You have to delete more than just your history, you have to also clear out your temporary internet files including all your cookies. I think most people tend to forget about AutoComplete on Internet Explorer which remembers the URLs you've typed in (and brings it up) and also words you've entered into search engines - so you want to clear autocomplete history as well.
If you use Firefox, you want to clear everything in that browser and it's best to clear out everything for Internet Explorer as well cos it seems to record it in history for some reason.
Remember that all this stuff is only about getting rid of records on your pc, it's still possible for people to see what sites you've been on if it's recorded on servers and things like that.

Yes. When the OS deletes something, it normally just deletes the first character and leaves the rest intact. This way, when one looks for it, without the first character, the rest are useless - until someone who knows how to make that single character reappear shows up. There are softwares that delete the whole thing and overwrite it too.

Most definitely. You, me and the guy next door couldn't recover the data, but you can bet the FBI or police can - that's how they solve a lot of crimes. The only true way to erase the data is to use a deep cleaner of the hard drive (erases EVERYTHING - but its hard to come by this software I've heard), or take a hammer to it. Actually, they recommend if you sell or give away your computer, that you remove the hard drive and put a brand new one in there. That way, none of your supposedly erased information can be found again.

Yes you simply undelete it using special software. Or use the software that was monitoring your key strokes to find out where you have been and your passwords etc. Use some good software using DoD secure erase to erase your drives free space and delete the files.

even if you permanentely delete the history and the cookies, the addresses you've typed can be restored becase all the addresses an ip types are recorded by CIA's or NSA's computers.
