The issue is not about me wanting to have kids. (in fact I'm happy to produce up to two), but it seems to me that there's way too much that a man (or woman) want in a committed or non-committed relationship these days. How confusing society can become in regards to marriage or commitment. I'd like to understand this from more than one male opinion.

Please do not co-habitate. The chances of you separating are freater if you do. I don't care what people say but there is no commitment there. It is too easy to just leave when you have an argument.
The way I look at it, co-habiting it is the best way to have sex without paying.
When you are married you are more commited to make it work because of all those other obligations: financial, work, kids, etc.
Don't sell yourself short.
You just need to look for the gentlemen.

My sons know that I will not accept that they live with a woman if they are not married. Those are the morals we instilled in them.

Don't do anything that you would not want your kids to do, because if you co-habitate you lose the right to expect your kids too.

Paradise, I do not open such links, but get the gist of what you are saying from your question. There are many young gentlemen around who will treat you with respect. You probably see them every day being sneered at, laughed at and jeered for opening doors to ladies, offering their seats on the train or bus and other such gentlemanly conduct. They are around, you just have to look. I am 65 and have been married for 39 years so I can say that it is a wonderful relationship to be in, especially when my wife is also my best friend. Of course we have disagreements and arguments, but she always forgives me. It is the simple things in life that truly matter. So, young lady, set your sights and start hunting..................

Well, I wouldn't put too much stock in a study that derived all of its conclusions from interviewing 60 men in Chicago.
While it may possibly indicate some overall trends, it's not a large enough sample to be truly representative of men in general or the country as a whole.

I think you need to judge *your* man on an individual basis, not on some survey :)
Best of luck.

All the studies and articles in the world mean nothing once a man is smitten. I fell for my wife hard, I will do anything for her just to please her, articles in papers cant account for this kind of feeling. my wife has been pretty mean at times but I can't explain the power she has over me. it is really scary. there is nothing I would not do to satisfy her... So put him to the test.... and good luck

I don't put too much credence into a study where they polled 60 people out of - what - almost a billion?

Just do what you're doing. Don't worry.

I couldn't get the link to work, but I can tell you - don't ever consider "cohabitation."

It has more to do with the actual person than the gender.
