Probably the best work-compatible costume will be one you put together yourself. One year I came as the cleaning lady. I wore old clothes, smudged dark eyeshadow on my face and hands to look like dirt, and carried a bucket and mop. My current boss tells me, though, that every day he puts on his suit and tie for the office he feels like he's wearing a costume!

My mom went as a Greek goddess the other year, and it was a really nice long, floaty Greek-looking dress with flat sandals, and the cut of the dress was sleeveless but not inappropriate for work. (I mean, she teaches 3rd grade, so she has to be even more appropriate than the rest of us!)

How about a plain colored leotard or outift and just buy some animal ears and a tail.
