I currently have 265/70/17. Would like to put something like 295/70/17 but am not really versed on tires. I want my truck to be lifted a small amount but do not want to change the suspension. Can you suggest a good tire size.

There are two things to consider; 1) over size tires are hard on you front spindles, so, I would be careful about increasing your tires several sizes up. 2) Larger tires will reduce you MPG.
Even though I sold hundreds of tires when I owned a service station in Houston back in the 80's, I can't remember all the different sizes. Check to see if there is tire size between 265/70/17 and 295/70/17 that will give you what you want.

Well I just put 31s on my 1995 4runner, they are big tires but the clearence is fine on and off road. but most 4x4 trucks and SUVs can handle 31s but with bigger tires your gas mileage gets killed. oh well.

your good judgment is stupid. only as a results of fact your wheels are making much less revolutions does no longer advise your motor vehicle does not have miles stacking up on the odometer. if something, including extra beneficial rims decreases your motor vehicle's lifespan as a results of fact your engine is working extra to bypass the extra weight. extra beneficial wheels additionally positioned extra positioned on on your brakes, suspension, tires, and axles.
