Doctors won't know. There are many ways to get a perscription filled. However, if you get a script filled and it is abusable (vicodin), and you try to "shop" that script by taking it to more then one pharmacy, soon enough, the authorities will catch on. I have worked behind the pharmacy counter and we had the police bust a lady for this exact thing.

They don't call to confirm the prescription unless they suspect a problem--like tampering. Once the prescription is filled--they send a copy of the script back to the prescribing doctor.

Usually, yes.
They now have prescriptions sent to the pharmacy by computer. That way they know everything and at the same time it helps to prevent fraud.

To my knowledge, the pharmacy has to call your doctor's office to confirm the prescription, so I would assume so.

It is my understanding that doctors receive a monthly statement letting them know if the scripts they wrote out were filled....If you had if filled then fine,,,,,,,,,,if you didn't then fine.....He doesn't question why you didn't.............Unless you come back in and complain about the same thing he wrote it out for..........PHARMACIST do not let a doctor know by phone everytime he fillsa script.....that's impossible....He would be on the phone all day (they both would) ..
