Losing hair and bruising is normal. It took you 9 months to have a baby and it apparently takes your body 9 months to get over it.
I used to nag at my husband when he shaved and left bits of hair in the sink, but this must be payback. I have long hair and I'm still shedding a bit at 10-months. I find it EVERYWHERE. It's GROSS!!! (Plus now I've got 2 inch hairs that stick out in every direction when I try to put my hair up so my daughter doesn't pull it.)
Oh the joys of motherhood! Just wait till you get your completely irregular period back! That was the next big adventure for me!!
Take care!

You could be slightly anemic also. Ask your dr. to test your blood and make sure you are ok. I lost alot of hair after having my son, and despite taking vitamins everyday, I still lose quite a bit of hair still. Keep up the good work on breastfeeding though. I nursed my son for 18 months, and it was the best thing I could ever do for him (he has milk allergy too). congrats on your new baby!

This is actually totally normal at this time. The lovely hormones that made you hair grow like mad during pregnancy are leveling off. My hair thinned out a lot. I am also a vegan, so no dairy for us anyway (through 2 pregancies and 5 years, so far, of nursing.) I would keep taking prenatal vitamins too.

Wish I had an answer for you. But I can at least tell you you aren't alone. I called my doctor and am going in for some tests he think that I may not be getting enough nutrients for myself because everything goes into the breast milk first. Right now he has me taking my pre-natals agin and that has helped with the bruising. I would call your doctor and see what they have to say.

I would let the doctor know what is going on because they may want to check your iron level. A lot of Mom's lose important things due to baby getting it all during pregnancy. I know for me I became Anemic after having my daughter. Bruising is a huge sign of that. You want to make sure your son is also getting enough iron thru his milk too. If you are lacking then he is missing out too.

The reason you are losing your hair is probably because when you are pregnant you don't shed hair like normal and now your body is just catching up.
To prevent bruising, eat plenty of fresh, uncooked foods high in mineral content. Eat dark green leafy vegetables, buckwheat and fresh fruits high in vitamin C and bioflavonoids, including broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale and spinach. Eat foods high in zinc, like chicken, eggs and soybeans, to strengthen blood vessels. Do not take blood-thinning pain relievers, like aspirin and ibuprofen, because they can make discoloration worse. Acetaminophen, like Tylenol, relieves pain without thinning the blood.

Losing hair is definitely normal. The bruising might be from low levels of iron in your blood? Check it out with your Dr...

During your pregnancy, your hormones slowed down the rate at which your hair fell. At around 3-4 months post partum, it wears off and you start losing a lot of hair. It will slow down eventually. This is perfectly natural.

Try taking Lactaid or Acidophilus with your dairy.
Shedding is very normal after pregnancy.
You might want to have your iron levels checked, brusing can be a sign low iron in your blood.
