Or rather, is it possible to become a counselor at a junior high or highschool without obtaining a Bachelor's in education? Is there any kind of certification I can receive as an alternative? Any information or other ideas will be appreciated.

I have an Associates degree, however, my field of study non-related to education.

Most states require you not only to have a teaching degree, but you have to teach for a required amount of time before you can go back for the counseling training. there are no short cuts for this job.

I don't think a bachelor's degree in education is necessarily required, but some sort of bachelor's degree, surely. Even if you get a teaching certificate, you get a bachelor's degree along with it. Frankly, I would think it would be hard to advise students to go to college if you hadn't even gone to college yourself.
