If you have some time on your hands, you may make more money if you wish to sell then, by going through them. Coin from 1940- 1958 are only worth a couple of cents each. One exception is the 1955 double die. It looks like the date was stamped twice, even though that did not happen. Coins from 1909-1935 do command a premium some big some small. You also need to check mint marks that are below the date. There are monthly price guides in magazine form that are not too expensive. You can find them in the magazine section of most large stores( Wal-mart ). These are retail prices and you would get about 40 to 50% less from a coin dealer. Going through my weekly coin papers, I see that rolls of mixed cents are selling from $2.00 a roll to $5.00 a roll. I doubt the guy who wants $5.00 a roll has to many takers. One person is selling 5000 wheat cents for $125.00 plus $15.00 postage another guy wants $184.30 for the same he pays postage. So you see, you may do better going through them first.

Unsearched and unsorted wheat cents sell at about $200-$250 for a $50 bag, so $35 face value would be worth $140-$150. If they are mostly dated from the late 1930s to 1958, they are worth less than that and if they are all older they should bring a bit more. Email me if you are interested in selling.

There are some wheat pennies that are worth money but they need to be in mint condition. Your pennies are probably worth $35.00 - $50.00.
