Well keep in mind that you are talking to little Miss Polly Prudeface. If my mommy told me it was "milk money" then of course I would spend it on milk. I was a very literal child with great fear that if you did anything outside of the realm of what you should do, the great wrath of the world would fall upon you. So of course I was a bit righteous toward my friends who would save their money and then stop by the drug store after school and buy candy with it. I would almost do the finger wag (oh dear God I was destined to be a teacher even then wasn't I? *hangs head*) and say, "You mommy and daddy are going to get so mad at you." And my friends would just look at me like I was an idiot and buy the candy anyway.
Ok......so I was the only kid that didn't have a cavity all the way up until high school, had never broken a bone and was strong enough to tip a cow! I'm thinking my milk money was well spent. *wink*

Ok, I'm not that old so my parents didn't give me milk money BUT I spent my lunch money on ganja. What can I say, I was a stoner back in the day! What?! It's true! Eventually my parents found out (think my brother snitched) and...well, you know the rest.

Squishy grips to put in pencils/pens, and animal-shaped erasers that wrap around the top (like a monkey hanging on your pencil, which was AWESOME).
My elementary school library sold them during recess. :D
In middle school I grabbed an extra quarter from the money jar and bought ice cream with it, and now, in high school, I don't have a lunch hour. I take too many classes.

Wow what era did you attend school? I never had "milk money" for school and in my generation I've never heard anyone say to their kids "Here's some milk money for school".
Anyhow, in elementary my lunch was packed from home. In junior high and high school we were allowed to leave the premises for lunch.

depends on what age we're talking about here. Elementary it was those pencils that the school sold, and I would save up my money to buy Valentines. Once I hit jr high I found cigarettes, and ALL my lunch money went to that.
