Cold compresses will help soothe - just something as simple as a cloth dipped in ice water - and a wet cloth will probably actually be more effective at soothing than ice at this stage. Painkillers will also help.

As for getting rid of bruises fast, if you can get hold of some distilled witch hazel (if you're in the UK, Boots sell it) that is fantastic. I had huge bruising after an operation on my shin and used it and the bits I treated cleared up in days rather than weeks. Just don't use it on broken skin until it's properly scabbed over.

try not to touch it. the doctors probably told you how to make it go away faster. I don't know the area in which it is but you might be able to get some results with anti inflammatory and a cold handkerchief but don't keep it on the bruise for more than 5-10 min. at a time and at long intervals. if by any chance it is near the eye I recommend you only take the anti inflammatory

Hey Lanie, if you are going to give advice...give advice. The best thing to do is pray? Wow......

Sorry, I should have answered as well....The only thing you can do for bruising is get a lot of rest so your body can heal and ice it down to stop the swelling.

They say time is a great healer and with all wounds and scars they will heal with time. If it is something that is very serious then maybe a skingraft will be beneficial but only your Doctor can advise you properly about this none of us on here can. Not with any degree of accuracy anyway.

Put a cold compress on it, and get some arnica cream for the bruising. Hope you get well soon.
