A homerun is when the batter hits a ball and can go from the batter's box all around the bases back to home before the fielding team can get him out without an error being committed. This can happen by hitting the ball over the fence in FAIR territory, or by hitting a ball that none of the fielding players can make a play on to acquire an out. A run is just the act of a player on the batting team crossing the plate before the third out is recorded, with the only exception of the batter being forced out at first on a batted ball. If the third out is recorded at first before the batter reaches there, no runs are scored. Baseball has a lot of quirky rules.

All homeruns are runs. A home run is a base hit in which the batter is able to circle all the bases, ending at home plate and scoring a run himself (along with a run scored by each runner who was already on base), with no errors by the defensive team on the play which result in the batter advancing for extra bases. Today, the feat is typically achieved by hitting the ball over the outfield fence, resulting in an automatic home run. Runs are just crossing the plate resulting in a point scored.

A homerun is when a batter hits the ball over the fence. He gets to go around all the bases and come home. If there are any other players on the bases, they get to come home too. If there is a player on every base, its a grand slam. A run is when someone other than the batter scores.

A home run is when you go through all the bases with just one hit, usually out of the park. A run can be scored from any base.

A home run is when a batter hits the ball and then makes it all the way around the bases back to home plate. A run is any other time someone is already on base and makes it to home plate.

A runner makes it to home plate to score, but may have been on first base or second or third at some point waiting to be "hit home". The is a run scored. A homerun is a hit that goes outside of the catch-able range and the player is able to score a run based on his hit.

a ball hit over the fence by the batter is called a home run because you can run all the way around the bases to home plate, a run is just when a runner crosses home plate any old way.

There really is no difference except a "Home Run" is a hit that the batter covers all three bases and scores with no errors.
