My friend wanted me to download my songs into her ipod. so I thought I'll just connect her usb cord into my laptop and to her ipod and it said do not disconnect on her laptop. So I thought it was working. About 15 mins later, I disconnected the usb cord but none of my songs were downloaded. Then I connected my usb cord to her ipod and it says do not disconnect on her ipod. After I while, I did disconnect my that msg is not going away on her ipod. So I connected back, but the computer doesn't recongize the usb cord-mine or hers and it stills says Do Not Disconnect...Oh my gosh, what should I do now?? I need to return it to her tomorrow!!! Please help me!!!!

Thanks!!!!

yea you cant just plug someones ipod into your computer and load your songs onto theirs, itunes wont let you, apparently apple thought they were so smart thinking of this way to prevent people from sharing songs. you could just save whatever songs you want to put on her ipod on a usb memory stick or a blank cd of some sort and then plug the usb into her computer or have her put the blank cd into her computer and just open the songs up in itunes, then it'll save her songs on her itunes and then transfer them to her ipod

there, thats one problem down. now for the next one, her ipod keeps showing that screen and it wont go away. the only way i know how to fix it when its like that is to do one of the following things. first just try switching the hold button on hold (where you see the orange color) and then back to unhold and see if that helps. if that doesnt help, just try pressing menu. if THAT doesnt work, hold down the menu button and the center click button at the same time. hold it down untill the screen goes blank, keep holding it down even when it goes blank and dont release the buttons untill you see the icon of an apple. once you see that, then you can release. this resets the ipod, so if it works it'll be fine. if you hold down the menu and center click button and it does nothing, the next best thing you can do is to just have your friend plug the ipod into her computer, not yours, and hopefully it'll get it out of that stage.

if you try all of those things and it still doesnt work, give apple a call. find the closest apple retail store and give them a call and tell them what the ipod is doing. usually, if your ipod is a year or less old and it gets messed up, all you have to do is just bring it to the store and they'll give you a new one for free. but DONT plug her ipod into your computer again, that'll only mess it up more

Ok...so....never disconnect your iPod by pulling out the USB cord until you have notified your computer that you are going to disconnect. You could cause information on your iPod, iTunes and your computer to be lost or damaged. How is the proper way to disconnect? Well when your iPod is hooked up to iTunes you'll see right next to your iPods name a little icon that if you select it will disconnect your iPod the right way.
Next....i'm assuming you know how to transfer the songs from your iTunes to the iPod right? Well...if you didn't disconnect the iPod properly the songs you transferred probably didnt register.
After you disconnected a final time you said the disconnect message remained on her iPod? Well...my advice would be to turn off her iPod if at all possible and then turn it back on. Then you should restart your computer and then re-open iTunes. Try connecting her iPod again and transferring songs. YOu can tell if the songs made it to her iPod while the iPod is still attatched to iTunes by selecting the iPod and checking the list of songs on her iPod. Try to disconnect again the PROPER way and hopefully it will work out. If it still doesnt work try and check out this site: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/ I wish you the best!

PS- I'm a little confused myself b/c I have hooked up my iPod to a friend's computer and took songs from her library and nothing happened to my iPod. I still have some of her songs on my iPod. I didn't even use her usb cord...i used mine. I do know that you cant take songs from your iPod and put it in someone else's library...that is impossible....so i'm a little unsure of why others are saying its impossible when i've done it myself.

You cannot transfer someone elses itunes library to their ipod. doing so will delete all songs they currently have. i had this problem once. the apple people said to turn it off and turn it on. if you want to give her some music, burn to a cd
