Because ignorance has become endeared as a coping mechanism......the saying ignorance is bliss was derived to help get people back on the sheep herding trail that have wandered off it for whatever reason....curiosity and got lost b/c they have still not gotten in touch with their true higher self....call it intuition or listening to your inner.voice.....but the #1 reason why people are unhappy...is because they are emotionally disconnected from the true core of their being....in other words they will bury issues beneath other issues or addictions or bad habits all b/c they fear looking at themselves in the mirror for all their worth and accepting the way things are......therefore they remain ignorant to their real issues that if dealt with will bring on healing.......most people crack the first time....so to remain ignorant is way easier....its like sidestepping the obstacle but putting another 50lb rock in your baggage...U can keep moving but heck...it sure is harder..isn't it?

Because I think the saying is slightly sarcastic in itself.
To be ignorant in any capacity means you're not facing up to the reality of things 100%. You're probably not ready to face them or don't ever want to - depending on your character.
By ignoring it for a bit longer, it makes you feel like you've dealt with it even though you haven't...but it's just a front - that people can see through - and so like you say, most of these people just don't seem that happy! lol...

A person is never happy except at the price of some ignorance.

Surely the answer is within your question.....
there are fewer people happy because not everyone is ignorant as many more people have a consience than those who show ignorant tendancies.
I'm happy tho....could be happier.... Oh now i'm thinking to much...
Thanks!!!!! I think?

Maybe they are not as ignorant as you are so your perception of whether or not they are happy is based on your own state of happiness. Perhaps if you were less ignorant and as a result, less happy, then others around you would seem to be smarter and happier,

I don't agree with the sentence

ignorance is not bliss
but density ....

and density doesn't allow happiness ..

Because no one is completely ignorant.

If the saying is right, then that's why no one is completely happy (BLISS-complete/extreme happiness).

Happiness is relative. If you knew you were going to die tomorrow would you be happier or sadder than you are this moment?

Now, how would you answer the question if you were Muslim or Atheist?

We all have varying degrees of ignorance, but maybe people aren't as ignorant as you think.
