Platinum are for Xbox & Xbox 360 Greatest Hits are for PlayStation & PlayStation 2. For a game to become a Greatest Hit it has to sell 400,000 in 9 months. That`s the same requirements for the Xbox Platinum Hits.

Platinum games are like greatest hits. They sold a lot of units. A regular PS2 game either is a new release or wasn't that good.

a ps2 game goes platinum when a certain amount of copies are sold, same principle as records etc, no difference only when a game goes platinum it gets sold cheeper.
