You really should have both because your eyes will get tired and irritated from the contacts after about 8-9 hours.

Can I get contact lenses instead of glasses?
Unless a person has corneal ulcers (or extremely dry eyes that make them prone to ulceration), s/he can wear contact lenses overnight and/or all day in place of eyeglasses.
Do not keep the contacts in longer than instructed.
Even extended-wear lenses must be taken out periodically for cleaning.
Regardless, it is advisable to have a pair of glasses as a backup-in case an infection, injury, or loss/tearing of a lens makes it necessary to stop wearing contacts temporarily.
Can surgery give me perfect eyes so I don't have to depend on glasses at all?
The surgery that provides permanent vision correction is called LASIK. Whether or not LASIK can provide 20/20 vision depends upon the patient's particular condition.
There is also now a permanently-implanted lens available for correcting nearsightedness.

I heard that now there are lenses that can make a color-blind person able to see colors. Is that right?
Not really. ColorMax® lenses do not truly give the ability to see actual colors. Rather, by filtering light, the lenses merely help improve differentiation of red versus green, through altering the brightness/darkness contrast between them.
The lenses are not helpful in distinguishing yellow from blue.
Will it be obvious if I need a stronger prescription?
In addition to blurry vision, a sign that a change in prescription could may be needed would be frequent recurrent headaches. Other symptoms to pay attention to are:
Redness
Tearing
Increased Sensitivity to Light

Any of these may signify eye disease.

Even if a person is having no problems seeing, s/he should have regular check-ups with an ophthalmologist for a assessment of eye health. Having an eye exam should not be put off, because by the time a person notices a change in vision, irreversible damage may have already begun taking place.

I think it depends on your preference of what you like. Glasses can get in the way sometimes while contact lenses will not get in the way. Although contacts won't get in the way they can sometimes fall out (usually only happens when your eyes are really dry). When getting up in the morning contacts take a little more time to put in, but to me it is worth it. The major downside to contacts that I have come across is they worsen your vision the more you wear them. Although I don't know if this is a proven fact, this is just from my own experience.

Pros:---
Eyeglasses: simple, easy, healthy
Contact lenses: beauty, good at any weather and most sports excluding water involved, much clearer, very convenient

Cons:---
Eyeglasses: easy broken, lost, not convenient when you eat, drive, especially in raining weather.
Contact lenses: must clean regular, eyes uncomfortable if not suit you, must be very clean, uncomfortable wearing when sleep all night

Everything has its bad and good sides. I prefer to wear contact lenses when I am out because it brings beauty and confidence to me and much clearer vision, convenience. At home, I prefer to wear eyeglasses, because I am lazy to clean the contact lenses or take off them before I sleep.

Try and find out what you want.

I like contacts but developed a uneven cornea from contact wear
so I can only wear them for 2-4 hrs. Doctor is not willing to bend
the rule.
The glasses can come off & on easier, for pictures or whatever.
The contacts make me move my head to see through them easier, I sit with my head leaning but they do look good.

If I did not confuse you, you are not trying hard enough. Sorry,
I guess I am not sure, glasses are healthier according to the specialist I saw & at $500 for a 20 min. visit he had better know.

glasses - your soup fogs up your glasses when you drink soup, you cant look out the side of your eye, when its raining/snowing you get little droplets, but its easy to take them off or put them on whenever you feel like it

contacts - if you blink too hard they fall out, you might lose them, you have to put them back into their case everynight (if you get the ones you change after a while), but the pros are everything the glasses arent, lol =)

O i said that too, you are able to also be conscious that once you're taking your glasses and produce it closer, and then further out of your eyes, the magnification ameliorations, there's a touch a distance from my eyes to my glasses.

glasses. just get the look 4 u. w/ contacts u take 2 min on poking ur eye and glasses, u just pop em on. contacts are cheaper $ wise, but they rip easily. you can't open ur eye underwater w/ contacts.

Personally, I prefer glasses. And, men seem to really like the intellectual/librarian look. ;-)
