Why do they call it a pole barn if it is made of posts(wood)?

because years ago they used to store poles and pipes in one. Now its multipurpose.

They are called this because when you build the frame work it is made from wooden telephone poles. Hense the name pole barn or pole shed. We build a lot of these on our farm.
