can you double-up on this application? what specs would you look for? what brand would you recommend?

My 15" Magnavox has a VGA plug on it, and works great. It also says "HDTV monitor" on it...it's what it was designed to do. So if you find a tv with that input, then it'll perform perfectly (but at 1024x768 at best). Otherwise, it won't be terribly clear in the form of text or minute details.

If it is High Def and has a connector for vga from your computer it would be decent if it is not high def or does not have a vga connector it would be fine for watching movies from your comp but forget reading text.

typically, not good. very little driver support so higher resolutions aren't good, and sometimes not even an option.
