If they understood more about gays they wouldn't bash them or be so homophobic

People all need to lighten-up about being different. We are all different, aren't we? Why is it so important to put others in categories? Sure, there are many people with many similarities, but they are still individuals! A friend once introduced me as his "gay friend". I asked why he didn't introduce me as his 'white friend', or his 'Christian friend', etc. The gay part is only a fraction of who I am. The bashers are ignorant, or have a hard time with diversity. So, everyone should learn more about everyone else, not just learn more about gays.

"Christians" who bash gays are really just trying to find someone they can consider "worse" than them, so they don't have to come to terms with their problems. I'm a Christian, and even though the Bible says homosexuality is a sin (something I'm not really even sure about, it's lumped in w/ other things such as no tatoos among other antiquated laws, written by a man with his own biases and problems like any other part of the Bible), nobody is perfect, and I don't judge people. And as an aside, if I were to judge people, I would say most of the gays I've met were considerate, informed, and all-around good people; I couldn't really say that for most of the straight people I've met. (I said most of the gays I've met, some I've met I considered downright rude, or indifferent, or... you know, pretty much like anybody else. I'm just stating what I've encoutered.)

It is the opposite, the more I understand the more they piss me off. Im not a evangelist christian, redneck, republican, or racist. I just can't stand gay people. You can do whatever you want with consenting adults behind closed doors, but I dont need to see or hear about it in public. And stop comparing yourself to the blacks or jews, you people have always had the same rights as normal people, and can easily hide being gay. This is the f**ked up soceity of today where its okay for a guy to hold hands with a guy or dress up like a chick but I cant have a mullet or wear my 80s clothes without people givin me sh*t. You try to throw out your fancy words at normal people like me such as homophobic, but Im not afraid of you, you should be afraid of me cause ill kick your f**kin a$$ if i see you in public. How are you born gay if gays cant reproduce? think about that one or the fact that former straight guys go into prison and become gay, hmmm how does that happen if your born straight or gay. ANother thing that pisses me off is how ***** have tv shows where they say shallow things like physical appearance and clothes are the most important things, and all men must dress and look like them. What ever happened to improving yourself by changing your actions, for example dont have sex with men. You can call me whatever you want but at least I have balls, something you will hold in your mouth but never have.

I agree one of my best friends is a lesbian. She has never hit on me cause she knows I am not. My bf is so homophobic like any gay guy he meats is going to hit on him. I try to tell him he is probably not there type and that they respect you if you are not gay but he just does not get it. it makes me crazy. He also seems to think that you can tell when a guy is gay by the way they talk and i know for a fact that this is not true. I don't know the answer but I feel your concerns completely.

You seem to think all gay people are the same. 65% of the ones I have met or employed were very obnoxious . 35% were hard working decent people. The problem is people wanting to be identified by there gay label when it is a trait that is only a small part of their personality.

Bashing anyone for any reason is poor self esteem and simply disrepectful. Fearing homosexuals is fear of ones own identity and it's that simple. You learn how to give respect in order to get it. For what would be next if all HOMO's went away? Someone would always find someone else to hate... like the eldery, or bald people, or unwed mothers, etc.

Many people are afraid of gay people because they don't understand them. Their fear causes them to bash gay people

They are uneducated....they fear the unknown and different. I truely believe that the men who hate gay men have sexual issues and the men who hate lesbians are taking it personal...as an insult that a woman can actually be unattracted to a man...like I said....their uneducated.

You're right there. But people have to WANT to understand and that's a big part of the problem. It's a sad thing, too.

Understanding is the key to wisdom, but wisdom is a door that is locked from the inside, and sadly the key is hard to find for many.
