Many times the music will slowly get louder as the night goes on. They make limiters to stop distortion from blowing the speakers, but many times the people running the audio don't know what they are doing. Especially if it is a DJ. They like it REALLY loud and it doesn't matter to them if the equipment blows. That isn't really their job anyway, so it's not their fault. The other issue is the sound system may suck. There is nothing that you can do about that.
Also, if they are over powering the amps... it's going to sound like crap. If you start out bad at the top, it's only going to get worse when it comes through the speakers. TIP: If you see the red limiter lights on your amp or console going through the roof... lower the gain.

I completly agree! If there aren't enough accoustics in the walls for the sound to bounce off of, (this comes from mic placement and where most of the crowd is) so that's what's really causing the problem. A DJ who does it for the ladies, attention and to pretend he's cool won't know this but a good DJ who likes the sounds and the beat will accomidate his arrangement with the inside of the club.

As a club owner I will tell you our woofers need to be replaced every 2-3 months as the bass will tare the material and cause just what you are explaining. I use a sound shop they rebuild my woofers for a very fare price and after 1 year they are replaced. I would prefer to replace them each time but the price of each speaker is astounding at $473.00 and we have a total of 16 in place. I hope this help. Good luck and best wishes.

Well, one thing is the fact that they don't have the right equipment. They're usually truing to pump out more than the speakers and the amp's are supposed to put out. Most places don't want to spend the money on a better sound system. I know this because my boyfriend installs sound systems and owns a music store. Another thing, alot of dj's don't know how to mix sound properly. (Like too much bass or too much high end.)

It is usually because they are playing the music at higher levels than the speakers can hold and that makes everything sound distorted. They probably go through a ton of speakers every year for that. The rafters may shake because they have the bass up so high the earth moves!

because 1- the dj's don't know how to run sound, and 2- the club owners/ dj's are too cheap to invest in a decent speaker system.
