on my 01 maxima the "service engine soon" light became active a few days ago. i pulled out the code using the OBD code reader from autozone for free. pulled out code P1320 says ignition singnal misfiring, i erased the code with OBD reader the SES light disapeared till then. the OBD couldnt tell me which coil is bad so i am going to wait for the SES light to return that will help me find the bad coil if theres any. so my question is what you think can cause the coil to go bad, i believe if we use the regular 87 octane that can be the cause of bad coil? i dont know alot about this stuff so if anyone knows a little please do share.

The octane makes no difference the coil could have a crack for heat if the are cracked the fire the coil produces on the secondary side is probably around 30,000 volts on electronic ignition so if the fire arc's it gets stronger therefore making the coil very hot. This would cause the engine to misfire especially in damp weather good luck

Voltage is going in the process the path with the least resistance, whilst the resistance is going up in its meant direction, it is going to discover yet another direction, frequently by way of an ignition coil, the two leaving a carbon song inner to the coil or exterior to the coil. yet another style of coil failure is insulation cracking commonly using layout flaw and/or warmth. If the valve timing is such that it creates an exceedingly lean undertaking on the spark plug, it will improve the resistance on the spark plug. I truthfully have seen this undertaking frequently with the GM 3.4l dohc engine whilst the cam sprockets have been bumped off and not appropriate reinstalled onto the cams, it is going to arc on the coils rather whilst the plugs and wires are new. So i could say confident, below the right situations.

A bad plug or a miss firing coil will cause a miss or stumble. Sometimes you can take a water spray bottle and spray each coil if it jumps fire that is generally a bad coil.Best and cheapest thing to do is have it put on an engine scope that will tell you which one it is

There is no part that lasts forever, including coils.
