I am officially one day late for my period and am going to have a blood test this afternoon. How accurate do you think the blood test would be since I'm only 1 day late?

Both my blood and urine test came back positive a week before my period was even due. They are very accurate. They test for HCG hormone which is produced when the fertilized egg implants.

A blood pregnancy test usually becomes positive several days before you miss your period, or 10-11 days after ovulation. An hCG level below 5 mIU is considered negative, and a level above 25 mIU is positive. At a blood hCG level between 5 and 25, most doctors probably repeat the test 2-3 days later. A rise above 25 mIU means you are pregnant.

Quite accurate...considering some urine tests will pick up the pregnancy hormone before you even miss your period!

Good Luck
