I've tried a few, and with ethnic skin, coverage and skin color matching are a challenge..
Top choices have been:
Bare Minerals - It takes a while to get the hang of putting it on, I recommend starting with the 'Starter Kit' ($60)- it usually comes with an instruction DVD, brushes & all the 'basics'.
L'oreal True Match - liquid or powder - nice selection, the liquid foundation alone works nicely, the powder is great for 'touch ups' during the day, just don't go overboard. (liquid foundation: ~$12; powder: ~$10)
Mary Kay - They have a medium coverage foundation which I liked better than the full coverage (more natural looking), which also agreed with my complexion. (~$18)
The main thing with foundation - have a light hand, and be sure to use clean brushes/sponges.. using old and dirty instruments can make your skin WORSE..(been there, done that)

After trying every possible brand that you could think of, I came across Everyday Minerals Intensive foundation. This is the best that I have ever used. The minerals look natural and cover perfectly. Try everydayminerals.com. The company sends generous samples for free. The actual foundation lasts you a year and it is only $12.

MAC moistureblend foundation foundation is good. It's around $27. Max Factor Pancake Water Activated Makeup is more affordable at $7 and it gives you a great matte coverage too.

I used to use Covergirl TruBlend, but now use Maybelline Pure Makeup. Out of those, I think the TruBlend is easier to spread out smoothly, but I like the Pure Makeup better because it feels and looks natural, but covers pretty well too.

Chanel Creme to Powder works the best, it costs about $30. You don't need too much when you use it, so it does last.
