You can use a can of compressed air first to get out all of the dust, which can be purchased at Wal Mart. Then just take a lightly dampened rag or paper towel with a little bit of alcohol and wipe down your keyboard keys(of course turn off the computer).

If you're just looking to kill germs, and that's all, shut down and uplug the pc, then spray some Lysol disinfectant spray on the keyboard from about 2 feet away. The mist will be too dispersed to "run" down into the board.
If you want to actually wash the keyboard, there are several models you can buy online that are 100% waterproof. I saw one once that was even made to go in the dishwasher. No kidding!
Just Google "washable keyboard" or "flexible keyboard" and you'll find plenty. They are reasonably priced.
The coolest one of all is the holographic keyboard. This keyboard is a hologram projected on to your desk. It can never get dirty! Check it out here:

I dont know what these people are talking about taking something wet to a keyboard.
When I clean my desk I quickly wipe over the keys with a disinfectant wipe and thats it. Then if there is gunk that fell in between the keys a can or 2 of compressed air is the only safe way to get it all out.

Most people are afraid to clean a keyboard with water, but it's the best. Unplug it, and assuming that it's not a wireless, submerge it in water... it won't hurt it at all. Just don't plug it back in until it's completely dry... maybe do it overnight.
Electronics only stop working when they come in contact with water if there's still power in them... so if you disconnect the keyboard, there's no power, thus no problem, but make sure it's competely dry when you plug it back in!

I popped all the keys out of mine, then put it in a big jar full of hot water, and a little oxy clean and dishwashing liquid. I shook it up then left it out for 20 minutes. Then I rinsed them off good and dried them out on some towels and let them air dry a little, then put them back on. They got pretty white; like a teeth bleaching.

Very gently with a damp rag! Once you get water in the keyboard, you will be buying a new one, clean it with the PC turned off also!
