A child that is "spoiled" is one who has developed ways of manipulating others into getting him or her whatever she wants, confusing wants with needs. This eliminates any and all 5 month old babies from that category as 5 month old babies do not have wants but needs.
A five month old baby is likely starting to teethe. Does your baby have bright red circles on his or her cheeks? What about drooling a lot? It can be quite painful for a baby to have teeth moving around just under the gums so consider asking your doctor if there is anything you can get for him or her to chew on. My three children used to have their own facecloth which I kept moist and cool which they could chew on. It helped everyone get at least some sleep at night!
And, sorry, Silly Litt, but you're wrong. You cannot spoil a 5 month old baby - they haven't learned how to manipulate others into getting them what they want; just what they need.

Well, you're actually asking two separate questions. Yes, you can spoil a 5 month old. However, some babies need more attention than others or something's wrong (gassy, colicky, going through growing pains, etc.). Being spoiled is just becoming accustomed to something that someone always has to provide for you to be "happy" or "satisfied". Your child may just want his mommy though.

The baby could be teething, or just have gas pains. I don't believe you can spoil a child under 1 year of age. Do what you have to do to quiet the baby, to a degree. Some crying is good for the baby, but not hours and hours of it.

I know how you feel - My son was a cranky baby - he cried a LOT. We learned later that he has allergies and asthma (we had a cat at the time).
A 5 month old cannot tell you what is wrong - but if he's clean and has been fed, burped, and the doctor says he's healthy - I don't think you can spoil a baby - they are precious gifts and they need a lot of love. Just comfort him as much as he needs it.

PLEASE he's 5 months old. Mine is the exact same way. most of the time they dont want to be laying on a floor or in a chair they want to be at the same eye level you are. Maybe he's teething have you checked? Mine does play in his jumperoo by himself and entertain himself with toys but he does have his "PICK ME UP PLAY WITH ME" moments

yes if you hold him all the time or wake him up for cuddles he will get used to this so once you try to have 5 mins or do the washing he will feel rejected

maybe your baby is hungry not getting enough to satisfy. Could be the bottle that you are using it could be letting to much air in the baby tummy giving them gas pains.
