No! If you want to continue, just keep offering. Baby's sometimes do go on a "nursing strike" but generally baby's do not just stop without a reason.
If you want to continue nursing I added a link with some suggestions.
Congratulations and good luck!!

I don't think you are done b/f unless you want to be. Maybe she is just getting to use to the bottles and not as much the breast. If you can wean the bottle in anyway and supplement with the breast she will probable start to accept it again, it might just take a little trying. It might depend on how old she is too, my daughter started weaning herself from the breast at 9 months and was completely done with it at 10 and 1/2. But it sounds as if you have a little baby. You could pump too so you don't dry up while you are seeing if she will take the breast again. Good luck!

It could be that starting your period or getting ready to start your period changed the taste of your milk. It might go back to normal afterwards. Also, if you are using nipples that have more than one hole in it she may just be impatient with the breast because it is slower than 2 or more hole nipples. We kept my daughter on 1 hole nipples at daycare until she stopped using bottles because I was nursing and pumping. Hope this helps...good luck.
P.S. for those above that say period = the end of nursing...I nursed for 6 more months after I got my first period...and they came like clockwork every month after that. My supply dropped and we had to supplement her daycare bottles with some formula. So to the naysayers the introduction of some formula does not = the end of nursing either.

I dont think so. If you are implying that because your period is back, your done, Then you are wrong!
with my daughter, I breastfed for a year. I got my first period back after 2 months, and continued to breastfeed the full 12 months.
Currently, I am breastfeeding my son, he is bottlefed during the day, and at night I breastfeed. I do not pump, and I have just started my period after 4 months. My supply is still the same.
If you let the baby nurse, your body will start to produce milk again.
Good Luck!

is it possible you ate something that gave your milk a foul taste? did you apply some perfume or other body product that may have gotton on your nipple? change in laundry soap? there are many things that would turn baby off to the breast. keep trying, you can go a while without nursing and still produce milk. call your local la leche program, talk with a lactation specialist as well. they are great at helping out.

If she's refusing, I'd just let it go--we know it's best for them, but they each have their own personal tastes. She needs to get her nurishment and if a bottle is the only way she'll take it, then that's what you'll have to do. Your period doesn't change the taste of your milk or prevent you from breastfeeding, but it happened to coincide with the baby refusing the breast.

Not if you don't want to be. My baby didn't seem to like my milk much when I came on a period whilst breastfeeding, I think that I remember reading that the milk changes with the hormones that start the bleeding, and some babies don't like it.
If you want to keep breastfeeding, keep trying, but if you want to stop, do that. This is YOUR baby, YOUR body and YOU have to make this decision.

maybe she is done on the breast..you can keep offering but don't force it. she tells you what she wants. you can still nurse and have a period and also not have one....everyone is different. i nursed full-time and got my period once my baby was about 6 months old. i'm still nursing too...just remember that nursing isn't a substitute birth control method

well when I satrted suppllementing my son was done with the breast, I think its easier for them.
Keep trying but I did read that no bottles for babies until after 6 weeks old, because they will get used to the botle quicker,
how old is your child?
Good Luck to you!
