Absolutely not. It's highly impractical & borders on ridiculous. That's not the answer & it never really has been anywhere else either.

The fence hasn't worked (what they have put in so far) and won't work if they do decide to waste millions of dollars more to finish it. There is a partial fence in parts of Arizona right now and what they found has happened is it has increased the number of illegal border crossings! Why? Because if you put up a fence anywhere, you raise even more couriousity as to why you did it in the first place. If you want to keep someone out and you build a fence they are going to at least look and in this case, go over it. If you ask certain businesses in California, Texas and Florida they would tell you "off the record" that they don't want it all! Why? Because many of their businesses thrive on these poor people who just want to make some money, even far less that minimum wage in most cases so that they can send most of it back home to their families who have even less! This fence idea is typical of the current administration that doesn't have a clue how 99% of the people the represent live much less those that will go under, over or around any barrier we may put up.

Mexico has a vested interest in illegal immigration. It gets rid of the uneducated laborers, the poor and the sick and gets back the hard dollars that get sent back to support families. A fence only works if it's patrolled and the US BP doesn't have the man power to do that. So, unless the National Guard gets put to work or, per the 2nd Amendment, a militia gets organized, legalized and goes to work, a fence is useless as these guys can dig a swimming pool by hand so getting under the wall won't be a challenge.
It used to be that immigrants came through ports and were interviewed and checked. Now our borders are porous; the economic impact is huge. For the most part, the people coming across the border aren't criminal except for the fact that they are here illegally and not as documented immigrants. The solution probably lies in work permits and monitoring of the people who get them. In addition, illegals should not be given driver's licenses, health benefits or public education - and children should not become citizens if born to an illegal couple.

I agree. however you should be reassured that some of the 'unfenced' miles will be covered with sensor/motion devices. A large portion of that terrain is very rugged and even though its passable, it's so difficult that the border patrol can respond easily before the illegals get very far. I also realize more needs to be done. But we've finally gotten a good start. Now, let's finish it !!!

If they are to build a fence, it needs to be around the entire US on land or water. I really don't think that that will keep people who want in, out. Who pays for it, who knows? I don't want to...isn't that why we have border patrols?? We all know what good they do though. Catch 22.

Only true way to stop illegals is fining COMPANYS who hire them with huge fines and jail time. The government doesnt want to do this though. You'll never see a wall either.
