I think she's justifying her relationship by saying they're not blood related. Then if they aren't blood related they wouldn't have titles i.e. Cousin, Uncle. The only thing you can do is see if they truly are cousins, if so you can try to get custody of your kids. If it's some type of "game" they played, then let it be. You monitor their behavior if you're around them enough you'll notice a difference in their attitudes. Keep an open door policy and don't be too judgmental. If you keep the fire stoked between you and her she'll make it hell on you. She sounds like the type who'd turn the kids against you. Play it cool, and keep your eyes and ears open.

Wow - what a situation. I would agree with the point of view you have - far as messy relationships go. But I don't know about telling your sons that what their mother did wass wrong. (I'm not saying I disagree.) But it's sure to cause further conflict between your children and their mother and you.

Wow...I have always been one to say "love conquers all", but in this case it's just wierd. This is a bad situation for all concerned if you ask me. I think you need to teach your children that what thier mother did is VERY out of the ordinary, don't bad mouth her, just make sure they know it is not a normal thing to do...

Oh wow, that's a mess.
I'd have to say that I agree with you. You need to explain to your son that his mother's choices were her choices but as long as he's underage and living with you, he will obey your rules about his step sister (step cousin in law?) and I'd talk to your X about it too, she needs to be aware of the situation.

Sounds like to me the real issue here is that you're still dealing with your feeling for your ex-wife. If not, then it wouldn't bother you. You have no right laying your morals on others. Dude, let nature takes its course and try to find a woman!
You'll feel better when you get laid once in a while.

Somehow I don't believe that this is the first time this has happened in her family. If the kids were raised to call him uncle, and she initially referred to him as her cousin, by blood or not they are cousins and it's nasty!

I feel you are right to tell your sons that, because it is wrong.
