ok to fix this you have to go into group policy
as long as you are an admin you can fix this
click start-run-type this gpedit.msc- hit enter- expand administrative templates-then expand system-then ctrl+alt+del options-then look on the right side of the screen and double click on remove task manager-click on disable then click apply- next click start- run-type cmd-hit enter-type gpupdate- hit enter
when thats done you should be good to go. good luck

if by chance your account cant do this. you can log on as the local admin as long as there is no password on the account or if there is hopefully you know it. to long on as local admin do the following:
log off- if your log on screen requires you to click on a icon then type your password do this hit ctrl+alt+del 2 times. now you can type a name and password- user name- administrator leave the password blank or if you know there is one and know what it is type it in. once you are in follow the other steps i gave you and that should do it. good luck

I'm assuming this is a personal home computer and does not have any security policie, NTSF or Domain Policies. Also, I'm assuming that YOU are the administrator or have administrator priviledges.

Okay. There are two ways to pull up the Task Manager. One way is the way you're doing it (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and the other is (Ctrl+Left Shift+Esc).

Try the Ctrl+Left Shift+Esc and that should pull it up. If it doesn't, then make sure you had admin rights, to check, go to:

Control Panel > User Accounts > User Accounts. Then review what right's each person has and the account settings.

Also, if you get really frustratied, try this.

Restart the computer, then press "F8" when the computer comes up. Select "Safe mode with Networking" and it'll bring you to the Windows Welcome Screen. Select the Administrator account. (Most people when they install XP, do not put a password on the main Administrator Account). Once you log in, go back to:

Control Panel > Account Users > Users and modify the permissions and make yourself the Administrator. Then restart the computer. When the computer is up and back to the Windows Welcome Screen, log in and try Ctrl+Alt+Del again or Ctrl+Left Shift+Esc.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like a virus may have disable you from opening the task manager. If your pc still functions you can scan for viruses. Get it checked out by a professional.

You did say you have administrative priveleges, right?

Have them give you Local admin rights to it dawg... thats all you need. IT might also come from an IT policy set at the server level so you will need to talk to an admin regardless.

You have to be on the main account and change the setting. There's still a main account no matter what.
