Maybe start listening for funny words put together in a sentance. For instance, my buddy and guitarist and I are always saying "Hey, that would be a good name for a band"...Last time we said it someone had just said the words "monster in a box" in a sentance. People are always accidently saying cool stuff.
It is hard to be indie if you don't have the confidence to write. Start out simple. Don't try to get to complicated with lyrics. Some of the most popular and beloved songs are insanely simple. 3 chords and no deep story telling.
Go from that to the harder.

Good luck!

To name a band, as another respondent said, just keep your ears open for words that sound cool together. Lines and character names from books are also good -- Augie March comes to mind here.

To write songs, well... I can't really offer advice there, since I'm not much good at it myself. But many pop songs aren't very complex. For inspiration, try looking to older folk songs -- half of them have just two or three chords!

Good luck with your musical endavors!
