Do you think if we lived in a society that divorce was not accepted or against the law fewer people would get married?

I think fewer people would get married.

maybe, but for the most part when people get married they believe in their hearts that they will stay together forever. It's after they get married and real life starts that they realize they made a mistake.
Or it would have the opposite effect. I think maybe people would start getting married younger instead of older. Young people seem to fantasize marriage and want to jump in. If it was illegal to get divorced can you imagine all the pregnant women there would be to trap their man forever? I don't even want to think about it.

I don't think that less people would get married just just think that it wouldn't be a split decision. I got married and I meant it for life no matter what happened it could be worked out. Well my husband didn't see it that way and now I have no choice but to get one. I kind of with it was a law but I can't change his heart. The is the only answer I can give you.

I think both the previous answers are correct. I think fewer people in America would get married since we are a liberated country. But I also thing there would be a lot more domestic abuse, even good people can only take so much.

I feel that more people would think before jumpping into a serious relationship i also think that it would create more problems because everyone grows at differnt rates and sometimes against all odds as we grow the things we value change and our prospictive changes so many people drift apart and if divorce was not legal more people would cheat or even do worse if stuck in place where there was no way out.

Catholics dont believe in divorce and they still got married and I dont think most people get married thinking they will divorce. Look at all these married men who warn bachelors not to get married but are still married themselves. And the bachelors get married and then its their turn to sit around and b*tch all day long.

Either fewer people would get married or there would be more instances of spousal homicide.

The lawyers would lose so much money they would lobby to have that law changed.
