I have never "seen" one in person, but have been in numerous tornado warnings and seen a lot of destruction close to where we live. Almost everyone in this area have what we refer to as "fraidy holes!" (Storm shelters)

Yea, it was only a few miles from me. It was really weird, it was a nice day, not really stormy or anything and a Tornado spun up on the north side of the cities here. I was watching it on TV as one of the news channels was following it with their helicopter. It kept moving East until it was just a little ways from us. I went out on the deck and I could see it perfectly. Very weird, couldn't here a thing, overall not a bad day (just cloudy) and there was this tornado. Went inside and got my camera ... even got one picture with the Ch11 helicopter in it.

BTW - I'm not really a cheerleader (I'm a guy) the icon is me in my Halloween costume for this year - rah rah rah

Yes labor day weekend 2001. I just got home and it started raining. Within minutes it started hailing. I wasn't paying any attention. My brother called me (who lived 2 blocks away) and asked me if I was OK. I said yeah, why? He told me to look out my living room window. I did and there was a tornado in front of me, one to the left and one to the right. Apparently there was a total of 5 but didn't see the other 2. I started screaming, I threw down the phone and ran into my bathroom. My house and my brothers house where OK but did a lot of damage to our town. Tore up the high school, post office, Safeway and 75 homes.

Well, I don't know if you'd consider being on the backside of a tornado being a witness to a a tornado or not, but a tornado went through the center of town and missed my street by inches, but caused a lot of damage.

Many times while growing up in Michigan & more than a few since moving to Texas. Nature is both beautiful and deadly, and nothing shows this more clearly than a tornado.

I've been in one and have seen one in the distance from a top floor building when a bad storm rolled in. To me though, tornado's are fascinating!

Yep I was sittin on the couch watchin Jerry. Just when the transvestite came out to say she was sleeping with her brother's wife that thang ripped the top off my new fleetwood home. Took my pink flamingos I just bought too. I was on channel 3 new you didnt see me. No seriously, I have. It ripped down the entire block next to me. It was freaky. Skipping over some houses and demolishing others. Then just went over a hill in the distance. FREAKY.

NOt sure. Is a tornado a whirl wind that follows and blows things out of the truck? Then I did experience one, once.
