Go to a games website and start chatting in their "lobby" area and then maybe ask who wants a game.

You're on Yahoo!, why not try Yahoo! chat ? There are rooms for different people, rooms for teens, rooms for different kinds of chatters & interest, including music and if you like country music, there's www.realcountry chat, we talk about country music and other things, but they don't allow cussing,harassing the other members and things like that. If you like country music, you'll like that chat. Monday - Friday, evenings the DJ (Steve Lewis) joins us, you'll like him, he jokes with us, shares a laugh or two.There are people from all over the country.

Try an IRC chat room. IRC is Internet relay chat. You can get in a chat room simply by going to a site or getting a IRC client a program that makes it easy to connect. you can even have your own chat room. Try ICQ to start with and mirc is a reasonable IRC client to try. I haven't been on IRC for weeks I may go on tonight after 9pm - on ICQ in #friends_too - get in a room and then type /join #friends_too and you can talk to me! I'm in England so UK time.

i would try
Yahoo chat = good chat based programme as you can see people's profiles as you can see who you are talking to
My space = is good because you can tick a box to say that you are just looking for friends and then again you can also view the peoples profiles so that you can see who you are talking too.
Face box = this is another chat based programme that allows you to say what you are looking for, again boxes to tick to say friendship, and again you can view peoples profiles to see who you are chatting too
wanadoo chat = this is a chat programme only but with this one you can not see any profiles so its a real guess to who you are speaking too.
UK chat = the same as above

You could set up a myspace account, and only tick the box for friends.
Why not join forums for your favourite games to get chatting to people?
