This song was written (not by Madonna) for the Sean Penn movie called "At Close Range." The movie was based on a true story about a gang led by a father, who made his sons be in the gang. They committed a lot of crimes, including murder, and the kids kept all of the dad's secrets (and participated) because they were so desperate to not let him down.
I have no idea how Penny Marshall thought this story fit "A League of Their Own." The song is beautiful but creepy, when you listen to the words.

It was the theme song for the movie "At Close Range" with Sean Penn, so I'd say the song refers to the events in the movie. It refers to finding the strength to face difficult situations.

Madonna's music makes me puke. I would rather listen to cats fighting.

Madona is an idiot who doesn't know how to sing, who gives her wrights to spit on other religions, if she doesn't belive in the one God, so that's her problem. She can't write her own songs, so she steals from other authors, so she probaply stoled that one too.
