Dose means the quantity of active ingredient needed to have an effect on a person of x age or weight. Usually the recommended dose is on the package or prescription. Some medications have added unnecessary ingredients, for example a cough syrup might have ibuprofen in it. When taking such medication you need to be careful not to overdose by taking ibuprofen plus cough syrup with ibuprofen in it...I hope that helps.

THis should be explained in the prescription. for instance.: two pills taken twice a day would be exactly that the dose is 2 pills and you take them both two times per day, morning and night. or if it is written 100mg twice a day, it would depend on the mg of the pill 50 mg pill would be 2 pills and that would be the dose 100mg pill would be one pill and thus the dosage

A dose depends on a lot of things. Your weight, the effect that is desired, the milligram per pill. There is no way for someone who isn't your doctor to tell you the dose of anything that is suitable for you.
