This is not about Madonna helping orphans. This is about Madonna helping herself. This woman is so self obsessed she can't accept that the cost of the private jets to Malawi, the security, the lawyers and the media advisers could have helped every child in that nursery. She could have discretely given many of her millions to worthwhile charities. I doubt if she has.

Why hypocrites?

There's a lot about this whole adoption thing that we don't know. There seems no agreement over whether she's gone through the correct channels or not.

For me there's no issue that the child is from abroad. An African baby is no less important that a British or American one, the difference is that USA and UK have the infrastructure in place to cope and run orphanages more effectively than the less developed countries would.

Publicity stunt? Without knowing the woman personally, it's impossible to say whether it's a stunt or not. I certainly hope not. She will have known it would attract publicity but that is not necessarily the only reason she has done it.

The whole thing does need investigating, for the sake of the child involved, and for any precedent set which could affect the thousands of other Malawi orphans.

From what I have seen I'd have preferred to see the child's father given support to look after his son than this - but until all of the facts are known it's difficult to judge.

I think that Madonna has done a good thing but maybe for the wrong reasons. I mean, why all the publicity? If it had been Cliff Richard, a devout Christian, he wouldn't have wanted the publicity, he would have done so discreetly, as would certain other celebrities. But I do agree that we have a problem here in the U.K. and the U.S.A. I can only think that the child will at least have a chance to have a life, and that can't be bad. I have a soft spot for the 3rd world and I know they need all the help they can get. However, I am concerned that people are just profiting out of the Charities for 3rd world countries.

I think that there are a few reasons for Madonna to have adopted a Malawian child.
Firstly having a high profile celebrity visit a country struggling with an AIDs crisis and famine is obviously a good thing.
Secondly adopting any child is an act of selflessness (hopefully).
Also the child will have an amazing life and as an adult will be able to return in Malawi if he so chooses.
Its a shame that this has turned into a Madonna bash as the country could have benefited from the exposure.

defo a publicity stunt- if she wanted to- she's more than capable of adopting the entire village of kids where the biy came from. It's not as if she even carried him into homeland- her nanny did. She could have opened up home and employed to look after the kids- but she adopted ONE and now she thinks she's mother fkn Theresa!

i think it is great because it gives the child a chance in life to be around people who can care for him and give him the attention he needs. you never know he could grow up to be the worlds greatest scienstist if he is given the chance or he could grow up in poverty with a risk of aids/hivs etc!

I agree with you.
I think famous people goes to poor countries and adopt children like if they where buying puppies.
That's very sad.

I'll pay more attention to this stuff when the non-celebrities start making headlines for the same thing.
