Then complain they have no money and are always asking other people to lend them money?

I often wonder this myself. And, I find it really sad that people feel they need to fill their lives with "stuff" just to make themselves feel a little bit better. Consequently, it doesn't, so they go and buy more and more stuff.

As someone here rightly said, it is just society today, and as finance is so easily obtainable it makes it easier for people to get these big things and get themselves into debt.

I myself believe that if you don't have the money you cannot have it, and if you really want something then you should save up for it, not borrow money of some very rich company that will only get richer with the huge amount of interest you have to pay them to borrow their money in the first place.

I know alot of people probably look at my husband and myself with pity because we have a 15 year old car that has seen better days- but my response is this. We OWN our car, it's our car, we bought it straight up with cash that was ours, and it gets us wherever we need to go just the same as their £40000 4x4 or posh sports car,t hat if they miss payments they get charged for or might lose it altogether. It might not look quite as flashy as their's, it might not guzzle £80 worth of petrol a week (haha) and be cheaper on tax and insurance, but i'm happy with it.

In society today, everyone wants everything and damn, they want it now! It's just really sad that everyones lives are so empty that they fill it with material things which, let's face it, we can't take with us when we die.

People used to live within their means, but that was in the days before hire purchase (the original name for credit purchasing), credit cards and bank loans took off. Now many people are entangled in a web of debt caused by greed and an attempt to induce envy in others. The house, car and holidays aren't paid for and when they have to start paying for them, they also pay the interest that goes with them. When the salary goes into the bank, therefore, most of it is already spoken for - hence, they have no money. It's a never ending cycle with many people and although they might make us angry, we should pity them, BUT never lend them money!!

Because they want to think they are living the high life, they want the best of everything so that when people come round they admire what they have got, this is the trouble with Britain nowadays its all to easy to get into debt and get the things we want but when we are in debt and want to get out we just can't and there is too much pressure on us to look good and have good things nowadays hence stretching their limits. I've done it before and its not worth it.

Because they are insecure...and worry about what people think of them. So they spend to make themselves look better and be better than the rest....people like this tend to have not a very good home life.

they live beyond their means because we live in a culture of consumererism. and because ppl r weak when offered money on credit, and because they're greedy, and materialistic. they choose these things because they dont want to look socially excluded, basically because they're idiots

Because they dont feel good with themselves and feel like they have to out do others to fit in. Which means... They have not grown up in their minds yet and are still trying to fit in. Which is pointless....
