Heartburn has no other reasons. heartburn is actually a misnomer (i.e. a vague term) It is the reflux of the acid of ur stomach upto your esophagus for which u experience burning. reflux does not occur in healthy state. it only occurs when there is loosening of the sphincter (situated in the lower end of the esophagus and upper end of the stomach) which is destined to block the acid reflux to the esophagus. as the esophagus is situated behind ur heart it feels as if the heart is burning. fatty and spicy foods can cause frequent heartburn if the enzymes necessary to digest the fatty foods are not working properly. and as these enzymes come either from gall bladder or pancreas (the lipase), it may indicate that ur gall bladder or pancreas is not working properly and that's why fatty foods are causing excess acid secretion in ur stomach which causes reflux.
so in short heartburn is due to: -
Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)

if heartburn is after fatty foods then it may indicate that along with GERD, gall bladder/ pancreas or both are malfunctioning.

if u r suffering from this problem plz consult a gastroenterologist who will rightly evaluate ur problem.

initially u may start with pantoprazole or esomeprazole group of drugs (20 mg once daily in empty stomach daily for one month).

Smoking, increasing age, Stress, heartburn is caused by a gastric enzyme called pepsin. Certain triggers cause this enzyme to increase. If you have a stomach ulcer, avoid things like coffee, tea, alcohol, Advil, Motrin, alleve.

If you are having abdominal pain to the upper right side of your abdomen after having a meal high in fat then you have gallstones in your gallbladder. See a doctor if you cant relieve your symptoms

heart burn is a result of one thing...stomach acids and bile splashing up into the esophagus. Many different things can cause this to happen, but that is what causes it.
