and I couldnt believe the amount of women that got their kids ears pierced at like 3 weeks old. Dont you think thats cruel. One woman said "its no different to a shot". Well yes it is because earrings are not going to stop your child getting diptherea, tetanus and polio. They are not a nessesity and their baby shouldnt have to get holes put in her skin just so they can show her off like a trophy.

I agree my cousins had her daugthers done when she was a baby. I dont think its right or safe. What if they get caught or pulled out and stuck somewhere. I think as soon as a child grows a bit and maybe asks for there ears to be pierced then its ok. Babys are beautiful as they are and i dont think they need jewellery to look good at that age. A baby doesnt need its ears pierced for any reason.

Whatever ... if my daughter doesn't like her earrings when she gets older than she can take them out ... the baby doesn't remember getting them pierced ... I really don't see the big deal about it ... do you say the same about a boy getting circumcised ... that's not necessary but yet most parents decide to get it done - they don't do that one for a few weeks after the baby is born ... trophy that ... or what about the people that believe it's part of their religion - I've seen Samoans, Hawaiians and other Islanders pierce their babies ears ( boys & girls ) every month for the first year ... I had mine done when I was a few weeks old and I never held it against my mom ... lol ... I think you're making a big deal about nothing ... !

Ugh yeah I agree, I think it's a shocking thing to do to your baby. It makes me feel ill when I see those cute tiny things with diamond studs in. What's next? Baby tattoos from their fave shows?Makes me sick how people could put their baby through unnecessary pain even if it is a short pain.

P.S. reading some of the other questions about this topic, I have come to the conclusion it's only chavs who pierce their babies ears, most of them have no idea about spelling and grammar either, So if you wanna be seen as an uneducated chav... go ahead put your baby through some unnecessary pain.

This isn't even a question -it's a whinge about someone elses post. Why don't you respond to that one instead of making your own thread.

Secondly, I had my ears pierced at three months old, and I don't mind that atall- I would've wanted my ears pierced as I got older anyways and a lot of little girls do too- so it makes no real difference.

Should the children not want them as they grow older, they just take the earrings out and the holes will eventually close anyways.

It is personal choice, and compared to what a lot of people do to their children, I would certainly not describe it as cruel.

I don't agree or disagree, i've always thought it was a personal choice, although when my niece was born with a hole in her heart and ventricle trouble, the doctors told my sister specifically not to get her ears pierced as apparently it effects the heart! x

i used to do ear piercing but would not pierce any ones ears under the age of 4 as they are more aware of whats going on!!think its unfair when they are babies and have it done!!some places you have to be 16 or over..not a bad idea either!!

I agree! its unecessary and looks odd (common-sorry!). Shots stop measles, earrings don't. Perhaps a tattoo of a golden eagle across the baby's chest for her 1st birthday?

If the baby chooses to remove the earrings it'll still leave a scar. Thanks mum.
