I KNOW!!!! Where is the video of this so called educational system.....The media are everywhere else. If there were such a human interest piece, I'm sure Fox News would have picked it up by now!!!!
P.S. Jim From the Midwest I went to both of your links, and the University of Baghdad had but 2 dead links, nothing convincing. and your single photo of 2 children with identical totes, does not a school make.
Republican MOM, is this your idea of Bush's rebuilding of Iraq and schools opening? Military personnel asking for personal donations?: excerpt from one of your links:
The Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): I am asking for your help in bringing desperately needed school supplies to the children of our zones here in Baghdad. Over the past few weeks, we have been faced with the mission to secure, clean up and win the peace in several large zones in the heart of Baghdad. Among the many tasks associated with this mission is interaction with the local schools (grades K - 8 equivalent). Simply put, the conditions are deplorable. The conditions include raw sewage on the ground and in the classrooms, no electricity or water, bullet holes in the walls and on the roofs, broken windows and doors, no desks or chalkboards, and obviuosly little or no supplies with which to hold classes.

Despite the conditions, they will continue to hold classes. In many respects, the Iraqis put a greater premium and priority on education than we do in the US. The problem lies in the lack of resources and infastructure. Under Sadam's regime, resources were used as a weapon to influence and control the people. Even water and electricity were engineered such that he could turn it on and off as a way of rewarding those who supported him, while punishing those he did not trust.

Maybe you should read the entirety of your links.
While I commend those asking for help in obtaining needed material for the children of Iraq, this is not something that Bush should be touting as his work.

There is no evidence. If there were, the media would tell us all about it, because we know they are bastions of Truth and Honesty.

All of the people that you or I may personally know that have been in Iraq that have seen these schools are lying. It's a massive conspiracy. They aren't really schools, they are prisons, modeled after Abu Gharaib, complete with instruction manuals for making naked human pyramids. They aren't really schools, they are torture camps, not even designed to gain information, they are for the amusement of visiting Conservatives.

No, do not trust the personal anecdotes of the soldiers that return from Iraq, if there were any truth to the rumors of schools and clean water, you know the NY Times would have told you about it.

You know that tool at the bottom of the page to "research your answer"? Why don't you try it for a change instead of spouting your biased, unbased, conspiracy-theory, Anti-Bush rhetoric.

Um, I thought this was/is a real issue?
No "real" evidence that I'm aware of. A friend of mine currently over there, has told me of a woman she's met who is currently holding classes in her home. She mentioned that the public school that is "supposed" to be open is about 45 minutes away and includes going through very dangerous territory. Does that count?

There are more schools open in Iraq now than have been since Saddam Hussein came to power, and teachers can teach without repression from his regime. If you would like to email someone who has seen it first hand then here you go...

The fact that the media reports strictly on negativity, mistakes, and problems means that nothing good is occurring in Iraq?

Does that sound logical to YOU?
