I would like to move in with my boyfriend, and sublet my room for a year. The room would be a fully furnished sublet. I confronted my roommates about subletting, and initially, they were comfortable with the idea. At this time, we did not have a lease for our apartment (it was just month to month). They started communicating with me that they no longer thought my subletting was a good idea, as they wanted a more permanent tenant with their own furniture. Coincidentally, our landlords approached us with a one year lease, asking us to sign. Should I sign the lease, and then ask the landlord's permission to sublet, even though my roommates are against it? I've lived there a year longer than both of them, and chose them to live in the apartment when my old roommates moved out. Does seniority count for anything? What should I do?

If you are going to move in with your boyfriend and you are only month to month now. I would not sign a one year lease. Get out now, legally because you are only month to month.

First of all read the lease agreement which you are going to sign up with your landlord. Is there any provision for subletting? Do you required at least 30 or 60 days notice in advance if you are moving.Everything you will have to see the each provision of the lease.Landlords are more experts than us and there lawyers preparing the lease documents. Is landlords have mentioned about your room mate? If not than your room mate has nothing to do with the premises ( apartment or a room).Seniority will not be counted.Landlord looks for the rent which you have fully paid on the due date or No?

Do not sign that lease if you want to move out! Let your room-mates find a new renter that they like. And no you cannot sublet your space if the others do not want you too nor your landlord.
Do not sign another lease, give your written notice to vacate to the landlord and your roommates, then at the end of the rental term,, move out.

If you don't want to live there don't sign the lease. Let your roommates find a new roommate before they sign. If you read the lease you probably wouldn't be able to sublet it anyway. If you think there is some advantage to subletting you had better ask the landlord whether you would be able to do it before you sign the lease.

Don't sign the lease, silly!! You dont have to sublet ANYTHING, just have them sign the new lease and you're off the hook. Theyw ould be the new renters and if they wanted their rent to be cheaper they can get a roomie to move into your room.

If you all sign the lease, you cannot sublease without their permission. If your landlord lets you each sign a separate lease, you can sublease without their permission. Seniority doesn't count for anything.

I don't suggest you sign a lease if you aren't planning on living there.

Don't sign a year lease if you plan to move in with your boyfriend. There's no need for it. They know you want out and it sounds like they already have someone else in mind.

Would you want someone to sublet without input from you? Absolutly not. Why are you trying to keep your place anyway? Isn't moving in with bf kinda permanent? Do you have cold feet?

Just do not sign the lease. You were honest with them- if they are worth keeping as friends they will understand that you need to do what is best for you.

Do you not think it will work out with your boyfriend? If not then keep the place and pay the rent. If you are already having questions about wheather it will last or not then you got problems and need to cover your own a$$.
