What songs for a cover band will get a crowd going the best. As many different styles as you can think of. Songs that will appeal to the general public rather than acquired taste but aren't over done!

To the All Knowing Maniac: A Dark Side of the moon cover band? That sounds amazing. I was priveledged enough to see roger waters perform it live in his latest (and possibly last tour). Added bonus was Nick Mason taking the stage with him for the whole of dark side of the moon

Great question! I am in a cover band and I will give you our top and then steal your answers from other people! "More Than A Feeling" by Boston is great. The crowd just hears that acoustic guitar start up with the intro and they really like it.

Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" is also great to do in its entirety, just go through the whole thing without skipping a single song in order. And if you put "Wish You Were Here" in between "The Great Gig in the Sky" and "Money" (the flip from side 1 to side 2) it'll also work wonders.

Steve Miller's "Fly Like an Eagle" is another great cover, almost everyone knows at least 2 lines of that song.

This is an old thread, but a good question. I play in a 90's cover band and a couple songs that just kill for us are:
Chili Peppers - Roller Coaster
Anything by Sublime
Kryptonite is always a crowd pleaser.

Sweet Home Alabama always works.... lots of 70s rock has the ability to get both older and younger generations singing along.
