I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!
It is because we in business and especially business owners have to focus on profit to make a living. Therefore theory is out of the window and reality is where we thrive.
Professors and faculty have the luxury of a state guaranteed pension and salary in exchange for a 40-45 hour week. So they are ensconced in the ivory towers of academia where theory is reality and all capitalists are evil scum looking to get rich on the backs of the poor.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Those who can run businesses; those who can't teach.

I honestly don't think that this is a question. You are in an internship at one business that happens to be conservative, that doesn't mean that all businesses are right wing. As well there are plenty of conservative professors, maybe its just the school that you go to. I mean really, what's the point of debating this topic?

Because liberals are idealists, they expect the world to be better than it is and try to make it so by teaching other people to be better, more intelligent etc. and they often have the vision and the drive to do just that.
Conservatives don't believe in change (hence conservative) and do believe in human nature, its a rat race and there's nothing you can do about it except try to climb to the top of the pile, so they go into business and try to get as much as they can off of other people.

Professors are knowledgeable about the world and about history, and that education makes them liberal. People in business are mostly just focused on money.

While it is a generalization and there are exceptions, I think....
people go into business for money more than personal interests, and feel political repercussions much faster than professors.
people who become professors do so for their passion to learn and theorize. They are protected very well in terms of market and political fluctuation and can thus afford to vote for idealism more than those in business.

Professors are sheltered from the "real world" and competition. Most also enjoy this silly thing called tenure. Business is not filled with conservatives, but with people who have to work and strive to improve if they wish to advance and earn a comfortable living. The mindset is completely different.

GREAT QUESTION..Business people work in the real world with real people and specifically ADULTS. Professors however, are the kings of their domain. They decide what answers are correct and which ones are not. Complete and total control over input and output. There are very few adults(30 or higher) in college to challenge them. And very few would anyway because their GRADES depend on that LIBERAL PROFESSOR.

Teachers are for the most part "free thinkers", they have to be in order to teach...
Business people are always looking to make money. Conservatives tend to cater to businesses, i.e., very low taxes...
