Toyota has a 7 year 150,000 mile warranty of the Hybrid Synergy Drive Battery Pack. However, most dealerships, will replace the individual cells, as this is the most common problem. Average cost for this procedure should be no more than 1.5 shop hrs. Or about $180 - $200 including parts.

All hybrids have an eight year warranty for the electric part of the car, including the batteries(nickel netal hydride). Once disconnected the check engine lights will illuminated and can only be turned off by the dealership with manufacturer scan tool.
All electrics for the hybrid are in bright orange and shouldnt be tampered with for warranty purposes.

Current hybrids are using Ni-MH batteries. In my experience (flying electric model planes with the same batteries) they need replacement every 5 years. Expect to pay a minimum of $2,500 for a pack, unless it is under warranty.

I think they are rated to last 10 years. And to replace would cost thousands.
