I'm getting ready to go into my second marriage. My first was a shotgun marriage that lasted for 18 years and three kids. He always wanted out and was abusive physically, emotionally, sexually and financially. I held on, trying to make the perfect wife and family. I became so very depressed and withdrawn from the stress of his lies and cheating that I finally left.

I am 100% certain that I will bemarried to the man I'm with now for the rest of my life. His integrity and strength and moral character are everything I ever wanted - plus he's sexy as hell!

The financial stress often cited as the number-one reason for the first marriage divorce, newly engaged couples should take a hard look at whether they are financially compatible before saying "I do."
The argument about rising children is main reason for the second marriage divorce.

I have had one husband and I am still happily with him. I don't see why people have divorce.. I mean to death to us part obviously doesn't mean anything to some people. Everyone has problems, you just have to work through them. It doesn't matter who you marry, there is always something you won't like about them or rough times. No one said marriage was easy, you have to work at it. Besides if you can't make it work with the first person, what makes you think you can make it work with the second person.

i have had 2 marriages, the first one ended because we we were just too young, and we were children having children, we broke up because he met this woman, and i did not take it very well. i could not communicate in a positive way with him, plus he did not want to work and be a husband and father, he wanted to have his fun. we just didn't know one another that well and he was so good looking back all those years ago, the girls couldn't keep their hands off of him. the woman who became wife no 2 fared no better, he cheated on her for years, and it caused much unhappiness.

I've been married a year - no prior divorces for either of us.

But I have a friend, he married a woman and less then a year divorced her - 6 months after that he got engaged and he's coming up on his 1 year anniversary with wife #2! And they are having a baby due around the same time!

I am in my 1st - and it will be my only. I am giving this thing a shot but if it doesn't work - not again. I never needed marriage to be happy and secure. I married my husband because he demanded it. Plus no matter who it is - I wouldn't be able to trust another man with my kids.

This is my husband's 2nd. He got married young and within a religion. When he and his wife left the religion - they realized they had no marriage. Lucky for me.

Here's my time line....

We were two horny toads in college
Got her pregnant
Got married at trimester
Baby born
She realized a baby and marriage at 19 wasn't for her
She left.
Baby's mom and marriage disintegrate into thin air
I was in college and the suddenly a grown-up and a dad.
21 yrs later.
Baby grown up and now in law school. Thank god!

Reasons for first marriage gone: Wear condoms, too young, too stupid, too hard headed, ok..too stupidly young.

Been married twice, divorced once. My marriage ended because I did not know him well enough before we got married. He is to this day a pathalogical liar and I can't handle that. Marriage number two is the BEST!
