There are many referral agencies you can go to. Nany agencies do background checks, give tests, etc. to determine what type of family a nanny would work well with. A nanny doesn't have to be someone who is full-time, lives in, or any of the things associated with the term. You can usually find good nannies who will work part-time, possibly retirees (this is great especially when you live far from "real" grandparents). If you live in one of the areas that A Choice Nanny covers, they are an excellet agency.

Always ask for referrals, at least 3. And then phone the referrals and ask lots of questions. Was the person reliable? Did they show up on time? Did they consistently do a good job? And for a babysitter, get even more referrals, ask even more questions and get a criminal records check. You can never ask too many questions when it comes to your kids.
