Do I need Verizon's Music Essentials kit?

I just got the LG VX8300 cell phone and I'm wondering if I need to purchase Verizon's Music Essentials Kit to transfer music from my computer to the phone? Can I just get a USB cord? I have iTunes software from my ipod.

You need the software that comes with the kit.

The phone plays Windows Media files not itunes.

just the usb cable. I have an LG8100
